Prof. Dr. V. Gopal is the principal of the College of Pharmacy and Registrar Academic of Mother Theresa Post Graduate and Research Institute of Health Sciences, A Government of Puducherry Institution. He is heading the department of Pharmacognosy and is in-charge of the AYUSH Drug Testing Lab. He has 27 years of teaching experience handling classes at all levels of Pharmacy education viz. D. Pharm, B. Pharm, M. Pharm and Ph.D. 21 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. under his guidance. He has published 138 research papers and one book. He has filed three patents. He is the chairman of the board of studies in Pharmacy of Pondicherry University a central university. He is a member of the central council, Education Regulations Committee and committee for curbing the menace of ragging of the Pharmacy Council of India. He is a member of the All India Board of Pharmacy Education of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). He has served as question paper setter, vetting committee member, approving committee member and resource person of the national level exam, Graduate Pharmacist Aptitude Test conducted by National Testing Agent and AICTE. He has been the Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Puducherry Branch for the past 8 years and served the nation managing body of the IRCS for two terms. He has delivered 225 lectures in national and international conferences, workshops, seminars and symposiums. He has delivered 400 awareness talks and talks on moral science in All India Radio, Doordarshan, Cable TV and other Medias. He has organized 11 national conferences. His area of specialization is standardization of Indian System of Medicine formulations.
