Rules of the Competition

Semi-final and final

  1. There are two stages in the semi-final.
  2. Each stage consists of four teams.
  3. Each team will draw lots to determine which stage they are to participate in.
  4. The two teams with the highest score from each semi-final stage will proceed to the final round.
  5. Both the semi-final and final rounds are buzzer-based rounds. The first team to buzz in will be called on to answer the question. If the wrong answer is given, the question will be open for other teams to steal the point.
  6. Three marks will be allocated for the first buzzer if the correct answer is given. If the wrong answer is provided, the second team who buzzes next will be awarded two points for the correct answer.
  7. Each wrong answer will result in one mark being deducted. However, teams following the first buzzer may choose not to buzz in. In this case, no marks will be deducted.
  8. There are a total of 20 questions for each round. These questions centre around the theme as well as topics on Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
  9. Upon buzzing in, participants will have receive 30 seconds to answer the question. After the first 25 seconds has passed, a bell will ring once as your first reminder. After 30 seconds has passed, the bell will then ring twice to indicate the end of the answering period.

In case of a tie in Semi-Finals or Final Round

  1. In case of a tie in the Semi-final or Final round, the teams will be asked three additional questions to determine the team that will proceed or win.
  2. The same rules as the above apply.
